Fall 2025 Bible Study Schedule

Based on the responses received from our Bible Study Survey this past Summer, the following classes are being offered for Fall, 2025:

  • 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at Trinity, Packwaukee, 2:00 pm

“God’s Word for Today: The Gospel of Matthew”

Please join us for this 10-lesson class on the Gospel of Matthew, and the wonderful story of Jesus.

Class begins on Tuesday, September 16th.

  • Wednesday Evenings at St. John’s, Oxford, 6:00 pm

“What It Means to be Lutheran: Exploring Luther’s Catechisms”

This class is for all who want to know more about what Lutherans believe, and will also serve as a

pathway to membership in either of our churches. Class begins on Wednesday, September 17, and

will run for 10 weeks, until the beginning of Advent in December.

  • Thursday Mornings at St. John’s, Oxford, 9:00 am

“God’s Word for Today: The Book of Proverbs”

Please join us as we study the “Book of Wisdom,” as relevant for our lives today as when it was

written all hundreds of years ago. This 10-lesson class begins on Thursday, September 25.

  • Thursday Noon Bible Study at Trinity, Packwaukee, 12:00 pm

“God’s Word for Today: The Book of Genesis”

The Thursday noon Bible study began with the Gospel of John, twelve years ago. Having made it at

last through the Book of Revelation, we go “back to the beginning” with a study of the Book of

Genesis. This 13-lesson class begins on Thursday, October 2.

  • Sunday Morning Bible Studies

     “Devotions from Lutheran Hour Ministries”

Please join us at Trinity at 7:30 am, and at St. John’s at 11:30 am. Our LHM Devotions will be based

on the Sunday Scripture readings, and add to our understanding of the day’s message. Join us every

Sunday beginning in September. You will find registration sheets for each of these Bible studies

posted in the back of both our churches. Please sign up for one or more classes so that class materials

can be ordered and prepared for you. What a joy it would be if all our members would participate in

at least one Bible study! If you would prayerfully consider, adult leaders for any of these studies

would be most welcome. Talk to Pastor Sheppard if you’re interested.

Youth Confirmation for 2025-2026

Trinity, Packwaukee Catechism on Thursday afternoons at 4:30 pm, beginning on Thursday, September 25th. St. John’s, Oxford on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month, beginning on Sunday, September 28th. Please keep our Catechism students in your daily prayers.

Adjusted Office Hours

To accommodate the Trinity Confirmation schedule, Thursday office hours at Trinity will be adjusted to 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Office hours at St. John’s remain at Wednesdays from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Pastor, as always, is available by appointment at any time.

Men’s Lunch and Bible Study

All men and boys of our congregations, and their guests, are invited to monthly Men’s Lunch and Bible Study, to be held at 12:00 Noon on the first Saturday of every month. The next meeting will be on Saturday, September 5th at St. John’s, Oxford. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with preparing lunch for us, please talk to Pastor.

September Bible Reading Challenge: The Book of Isaiah

I hope everyone has been enjoying our Bible Reading Challenges, and hopefully getting into the Bible reading habit. Our next challenge for the month of September is to read the Book of Isaiah. May our Lord fill us with praise as we read the Word of the Lord as it was given to prophet Isaiah, as he points the world forward to the coming of Christ. There will again be an “I did it!” sheet in the back of the church that you can sign once you’re finished. God bless you as you read His Word!

Private Confession Available

Pastor Sheppard is available for private confession for those who feel the need for it, during St. John’s office hours on Wednesdays from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, and during Trinity office hours on Thursdays from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. You may also make an appointment with Pastor for another time that fits your schedule. This is your opportunity to talk with Pastor about things you may need to talk about, and to “lay your burdens down” and walk away free. Pastor is sworn by ordination vows to never disclose to anyone what we talk about in private confession. “If we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Orphan Grain Train

Orphan Grain Train provides clothing, furniture, medical supplies, and household items to needy persons, both here in our country and around the world. Please bring your new or gently used clothing or other items to church, and Pastor will see that they are delivered. (There is a list of needed and acceptable items posted on the bulletin boards in the narthex of both our churches). The Westfield, WI branch of Orphan Grain Train, located at 486 N. Main St. (next to the high school), is always in need of volunteers to help sort and pack. Volunteer hours are Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. All are invited to come for a tour and see what it’s all about. “What you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.”

Outreach and Evangelism

Pastor continues to look for those of you who are willing to help with the work of outreach and evangelism in our congregations. Our neighborhoods are “fields white for the harvest,” as Jesus tells us – but brining that harvest in has to be done intentionally and purposefully and with some sort of plan. We need your ideas, your energy, and your beautiful hands and feet, to do the good work our Lord has given us to do. If the Lord is laying this on your heart, come talk to me. “The longest journey begins with a single step.”

St. John’s 130th Anniversary

St. John’s, Oxford will be 130 years old this year. We’ll be celebrating this special event to coincide with Reformation Sunday on October 26, 2025. Join us for a special worship service, and for a potluck dinner following the service. St. John’s is also planning a new and updated Congregation Directory for the occasion; please see Teresa Zacharias to get your picture taken!
