Fall 2025 Bible Study Schedule
Based on the responses received from our Bible Study Survey this past Summer, the following classes are being offered for Fall, 2025:
Â
âGodâs Word for Today: The Gospel of Matthewâ
Please join us for this 10-lesson class on the Gospel of Matthew, and the wonderful story of Jesus.Â
Class begins on Tuesday, September 16th.
Â
âWhat It Means to be Lutheran: Exploring Lutherâs Catechismsâ
This class is for all who want to know more about what Lutherans believe, and will also serve as aÂ
pathway to membership in either of our churches. Class begins on Wednesday, September 17, andÂ
will run for 10 weeks, until the beginning of Advent in December.
Â
âGodâs Word for Today: The Book of Proverbsâ
Please join us as we study the âBook of Wisdom,â as relevant for our lives today as when it wasÂ
written all hundreds of years ago. This 10-lesson class begins on Thursday, September 25.
Â
âGodâs Word for Today: The Book of Genesisâ   Â
The Thursday noon Bible study began with the Gospel of John, twelve years ago. Having made it atÂ
last through the Book of Revelation, we go âback to the beginningâ with a study of the Book ofÂ
Genesis. This 13-lesson class begins on Thursday, October 2.
Â
   âDevotions from Lutheran Hour Ministriesâ
Please join us at Trinity at 7:30 am, and at St. Johnâs at 11:30 am. Our LHM Devotions will be based Â
on the Sunday Scripture readings, and add to our understanding of the dayâs message. Join us everyÂ
Sunday beginning in September. You will find registration sheets for each of these Bible studiesÂ
posted in the back of both our churches. Please sign up for one or more classes so that class materialsÂ
can be ordered and prepared for you. What a joy it would be if all our members would participate inÂ
at least one Bible study! If you would prayerfully consider, adult leaders for any of these studiesÂ
would be most welcome. Talk to Pastor Sheppard if youâre interested.
Â
Youth Confirmation for 2025-2026
Trinity, Packwaukee Catechism on Thursday afternoons at 4:30 pm, beginning on Thursday, September 25th. St. Johnâs, Oxford on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month, beginning on Sunday, September 28th. Please keep our Catechism students in your daily prayers.Â
Â
Adjusted Office Hours
To accommodate the Trinity Confirmation schedule, Thursday office hours at Trinity will be adjusted to 1:00 â 4:00 pm. Office hours at St. Johnâs remain at Wednesdays from 2:00 â 5:00 pm. Pastor, as always, is available by appointment at any time.
Â
Menâs Lunch and Bible Study
All men and boys of our congregations, and their guests, are invited to monthly Menâs Lunch and Bible Study, to be held at 12:00 Noon on the first Saturday of every month. The next meeting will be on Saturday, September 5th at St. Johnâs, Oxford. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with preparing lunch for us, please talk to Pastor.Â
Â
September Bible Reading Challenge: The Book of Isaiah
I hope everyone has been enjoying our Bible Reading Challenges, and hopefully getting into the Bible reading habit. Our next challenge for the month of September is to read the Book of Isaiah. May our Lord fill us with praise as we read the Word of the Lord as it was given to prophet Isaiah, as he points the world forward to the coming of Christ. There will again be an âI did it!â sheet in the back of the church that you can sign once youâre finished. God bless you as you read His Word!
Â
Private Confession Available
Pastor Sheppard is available for private confession for those who feel the need for it, during St. Johnâs office hours on Wednesdays from 2:00 â 5:00 pm, and during Trinity office hours on Thursdays from 2:00 â 5:00 pm. You may also make an appointment with Pastor for another time that fits your schedule. This is your opportunity to talk with Pastor about things you may need to talk about, and to âlay your burdens downâ and walk away free. Pastor is sworn by ordination vows to never disclose to anyone what we talk about in private confession. âIf we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.â (1 John 1:9)
Â
Orphan Grain Train
Orphan Grain Train provides clothing, furniture, medical supplies, and household items to needy persons, both here in our country and around the world. Please bring your new or gently used clothing or other items to church, and Pastor will see that they are delivered. (There is a list of needed and acceptable items posted on the bulletin boards in the narthex of both our churches). The Westfield, WI branch of Orphan Grain Train, located at 486 N. Main St. (next to the high school), is always in need of volunteers to help sort and pack. Volunteer hours are Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. All are invited to come for a tour and see what itâs all about. âWhat you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.â
Â
Outreach and Evangelism
Pastor continues to look for those of you who are willing to help with the work of outreach and evangelism in our congregations. Our neighborhoods are âfields white for the harvest,â as Jesus tells us â but brining that harvest in has to be done intentionally and purposefully and with some sort of plan. We need your ideas, your energy, and your beautiful hands and feet, to do the good work our Lord has given us to do. If the Lord is laying this on your heart, come talk to me. âThe longest journey begins with a single step.â
St. Johnâs 130th Anniversary
St. Johnâs, Oxford will be 130 years old this year. Weâll be celebrating this special event to coincide with Reformation Sunday on October 26, 2025. Join us for a special worship service, and for a potluck dinner following the service. St. Johnâs is also planning a new and updated Congregation Directory for the occasion; please see Teresa Zacharias to get your picture taken!
